Durable Medical Equipment
When you need a hospital bed at home, a wheelchair that actually fits through your doorways, or a lift system for safe transfers, the equipment itself is only part of the solution. It has to be the right equipment for your home, properly set up, and maintained over time. That’s what Accessible Solutions provides.
We deliver, assemble, and service durable medical equipment throughout Delaware and Southern New Jersey. We also repair existing equipment — because when your wheelchair or hospital bed breaks down, the need is immediate.
Equipment We Provide
Hospital Beds
Full-electric and semi-electric hospital beds delivered to your home, assembled, and set up with an appropriate mattress. Electric beds allow independent adjustment of head and foot position, overall bed height, and side rail deployment — critical features for clients who spend significant time in bed or who need specific positioning for respiratory, circulatory, or wound care reasons.
Wheelchairs & Power Chairs
Finding the right wheelchair means matching the chair to your body, your home, and your daily routine. We carry:
- Manual wheelchairs in standard, lightweight, and ultra-lightweight frames
- Transport chairs — lighter-weight chairs designed for caregiver pushing
- Power wheelchairs for users who cannot self-propel, with various drive configurations (front, mid, rear) for different environments
- Bariatric options for larger users requiring higher weight capacities
Mobility Scooters
For clients who can walk short distances but need powered mobility for shopping, community outings, or navigating larger homes:
- Three-wheel scooters for tighter turning radius (better indoors)
- Four-wheel scooters for greater stability (better outdoors and on uneven ground)
- Folding/travel scooters for transport in vehicles
Patient Lifts & Transfer Aids
Safe transfers between bed, wheelchair, commode, and bathtub are critical for both clients and caregivers. Manual lifting is the leading cause of caregiver injury. We provide:
- Hoyer lifts (hydraulic floor lifts) with appropriate slings
- Sit-to-stand lifts for clients with some weight-bearing ability
- Transfer boards and sliding sheets for lateral transfers
- Overhead ceiling lift systems (see our Lifts & Elevators page for details)
Portable Shower Units
Self-contained shower systems for clients who need immediate bathing access — typically while a permanent bathroom modification is being planned or constructed. We deliver, set up, and remove these units as needed.
DME Repair & Maintenance
Equipment breaks down. Tires go flat. Batteries die. Motors wear out. When your mobility equipment stops working, you need it fixed quickly. Accessible Solutions provides repair services for:
- Wheelchair tires, wheels, brakes, and upholstery
- Power chair batteries, joysticks, and motors
- Scooter batteries and electrical systems
- Hospital bed motors, actuators, and side rails
We aim for same-week service on all DME repair calls in our Delaware and South Jersey service area.
Ways to Pay
Most families pay directly for medical equipment — we provide transparent pricing and can recommend cost-effective options for any budget.
If you have Medicare, Medicaid, or VA coverage, we accept those too:
- Medicare Part B covers hospital beds, wheelchairs, and patient lifts when prescribed as medically necessary
- Delaware DSHP+ and NJ MLTSS/FamilyCare provide additional Medicaid DME coverage
- VA benefits cover DME for eligible veterans
- We handle all documentation, prescriptions, and billing if benefits apply
Medical Equipment FAQ
What is durable medical equipment and who needs it?
Durable medical equipment includes hospital beds, wheelchairs, power chairs, mobility scooters, patient lifts, and transfer aids prescribed for home use. Anyone with a mobility limitation, chronic illness, or recovery need benefits from properly fitted DME. Accessible Solutions delivers, sets up, and services equipment from Drive Medical, Invacare, Pride Mobility, and Golden Technologies throughout Delaware and South Jersey, with same-day or next-day delivery available for urgent needs.
How much does durable medical equipment cost?
DME costs vary widely by equipment type. Accessible Solutions provides transparent pricing during your free assessment and can recommend cost-effective options from Drive Medical, Invacare, and other manufacturers. Most families pay directly. If you have Medicare, Medicaid, or VA coverage, those benefits may apply — Medicare Part B typically covers 80 percent of the approved amount for prescribed equipment, and Delaware DSHP+ and New Jersey MLTSS provide additional Medicaid DME coverage.
Do you accept Medicaid for durable medical equipment?
Yes, we accept both Delaware DSHP+ and New Jersey MLTSS/FamilyCare for durable medical equipment. If you have Medicaid coverage, it can cover hospital beds, wheelchairs, patient lifts, and other DME items with a physician's prescription. Accessible Solutions verifies your benefits, obtains required prescriptions, and handles all pre-authorization paperwork. Most of our clients pay directly, but Medicaid is a welcome option for those who have coverage.
Can veterans use VA benefits for durable medical equipment?
Yes, we accept VA benefits for durable medical equipment including hospital beds, manual and power wheelchairs, mobility scooters, patient lifts, and other mobility aids. The VA prosthetics department handles DME prescriptions and authorizations. Accessible Solutions works with VA case managers in Delaware and South Jersey to coordinate delivery, setup, and ongoing maintenance so veterans receive their equipment quickly and properly configured for their homes.
How quickly can you deliver medical equipment to my home?
Accessible Solutions offers same-day or next-day delivery for most durable medical equipment in Delaware and South Jersey. Hospital beds, wheelchairs, and patient lifts are stocked locally and can be delivered, assembled, and set up in your home within 24 hours for urgent situations like hospital discharge. Non-urgent deliveries are typically scheduled within three to five business days. We coordinate with discharge planners and case managers to ensure equipment is ready when you arrive home.
What DME brands does Accessible Solutions carry?
Accessible Solutions carries equipment from Drive Medical, Invacare, Pride Mobility, and Golden Technologies, four of the most trusted names in durable medical equipment. Drive Medical and Invacare supply our hospital beds, manual wheelchairs, and patient lifts. Pride Mobility and Golden Technologies manufacture our power wheelchairs and mobility scooters. We select brands based on durability, parts availability, and insurance acceptance across Delaware and South Jersey.
Do you repair wheelchairs, hospital beds, and scooters?
Yes, Accessible Solutions provides repair and maintenance for all durable medical equipment in Delaware and South Jersey. Common repairs include wheelchair tire and brake replacement, power chair battery and joystick replacement, hospital bed motor and actuator repair, and scooter electrical system service. We aim for same-week repair service because we understand that equipment breakdown means lost independence. Most repairs are completed in a single visit at your home.
How do I know which wheelchair or scooter is right for me?
During your free home assessment, we evaluate your mobility needs, measure your doorway widths and turning spaces, assess your flooring and thresholds, and discuss whether you need the device primarily indoors, outdoors, or both. Manual wheelchairs suit users with upper body strength or a caregiver to push. Power chairs serve users who cannot self-propel. Scooters work for people who walk short distances but need powered mobility for longer trips. We match equipment to your daily life, not just your diagnosis.
What makes Accessible Solutions different from other DME suppliers?
Most DME suppliers drop-ship equipment to your door and leave setup to the family. Accessible Solutions delivers, fully assembles, and sets up every piece of equipment in your home. We adjust hospital beds to the right height, fit wheelchairs to the user, program power chairs, and train family members on safe operation. We also provide ongoing repair and maintenance service, so you have one company handling equipment from delivery through the life of the product in Delaware and South Jersey.
Can you deliver a portable shower while my bathroom is being renovated?
Yes, portable shower delivery is available for clients who need bathing access during a bathroom renovation or while planning permanent modifications. These self-contained units include a showerhead, basin, drain, and privacy enclosure, and can be set up in a bedroom or other space with water access. Accessible Solutions delivers, installs, and removes the portable shower when your permanent bathroom is ready, ensuring continuous bathing access throughout the renovation process.
